Obituary for Alvin George Notice

Alvin George Notice
Alvin George Notice known as Keithie, "Style" and "Cabby 84" was born on April 12, 1950 to James Notice and Melva Gordon-Notice. The Notice Family hails from the district of Mt. Prospect, St. Andrew, Jamaica. He was the middle child of ten children. His unique position in the family set him on a path with a unifying and passionate purpose. He has always caught the attention of whomever he crossed paths with. People who met him always took "notice"!. While attending school, his teachers, in particular, were always amazed by his cleverness as they believed he was destined for greatness.

His approach and outlook on life was against all odds. He saw people as individuals. As far as he was concerned, there was no class barrier since all are equal at the foot of the cross. His kindhearted, loving and humble nature allowed him to see the good in people and he treated everyone as equals. His liberating attitude made him a servant of his fellow men.

He was a super Dad who knew no bounds, as he never understood the weaning process. His benevolence to siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends point to the servant-hood of Jesus. Alvin and his two eldest children migrated to the United States in 1984 to join his then wife, Florence Phillpotts Notice.

Alvin's sixty-four years loaned to him by God seems larger than six hundred and four. He lived a life larger than life. Like Paul, Alvin can say "I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith, I have finished my course and there laid up for me a crown of life."

He is survived by his children: Latonya, Julius, Alvin Jr., Kemar, Tiffany, Kiesha and Kevin; five grandchildren: Sanisha, Khadija, Travis, Beckham and Adonia; seven siblings: Cydel, Winston, Portia, Stephen, Beverly, Monica and Angella; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many, many friends. Three siblings preceded him in death - Ivan, Ruby and Gwendolyn.

Today, we are holding back a flood of tears, just thinking of those happy years. Life has its good times that are no more, our love is gone, gone; gone forever more. So flow on river of time, wash away the pain and heal our minds. Flow on, river of time.

Alvin George Notice will be sadly missed, but his very precious memories will live on.
